We are eternally grateful to have had the privilege to be the children of Honourable Ishmael Ashitey. To be a product of his teachings and the beneficiaries of his hardwork and dedication.
Our father always valued our education and impacted on each of us the strong belief that education was the key to a better life. It certainly was for him. He always ensured that he gave us the best education, supported us as we pursued our dreams, and demanded excellence in everything we did. It took us years to understand that he demanded excellence in all we did because he perceived in us what we could not yet see in ourselves. The ability to reach new heights, to push forward through every obstacle, and to stand firmly in our individual God given purpose.
More importantly, our father loved his heritage. He loved being Ga and took great pride in being from Tema Manhean. He was always looking for ways to uplift and empower his community and we endeavor to continue his work because Tema Manhean is a part of who we are. It was our father’s heritage, it is our heritage, and is a part of our children’s heritage.
HIAF seeks to give the residents of Tema Manhean the necessary tools to pursue their educational goals and aspirations. By making university affordable to HIAF Scholars, we hope to give Tema Manhean a portion of what our father managed to give us for generations to come. It is our prayer that through HIAF we can give generations of scholars the ability to reach new heights, to push forward through every obstacle, and to stand firmly in their individual God given purpose.
